Pickett & Sons Construction, Inc. was founded in 1971 and since 1989 has exclusively worked on commercial and light industrial projects throughout California. Specializing in retail, office, and light industrial buildings, Pickett & Sons Construction is a premier general contracting company in Fresno and has many repeat clients who appreciate our commitment to their needs.
Joe Pickett, Sr. and his three sons Joe, Pat, and Don founded Pickett & Sons Construction in 1971. In 1973 the company was incorporated in the state of California and has continually operated under the current name since. From 1971 until 1980 the primary business focus was custom residential homes. In 1974 Joe Sr. passed away leaving the business to his three sons. During the next several years the brothers established a reputation for quality that garnered respect and made Pickett & Sons Construction, Inc. a premier builder in the Fresno area.
In 1980, Joe Pickett, Jr. obtained sole ownership of the company and shifted the focus of the company to commercial construction including remodels and tenant improvements. This new presence in the commercial market led to larger retail and “big box” store and eventually to shopping centers.
In 1985 Joseph F. Pickett began working part-time. After earning a Bachelors of Science in Construction Management degree from California State University, Fresno in 1994 Joseph began working full time while continuing to learn all aspects of the business.
Joseph purchased the Company in 2006 and continues to build commercial projects throughout the Central California area. Project types include office buildings, retail shopping centers, tenant improvements, light industrial buildings, apartments, and assisted living facilities.
Pickett & Sons Construction, Inc. was a finalist for the 2009 & 2014 Family Business Institute “Outstanding Family Business” as an outstanding role model of how family firms nurture, support, and benefit the entire Valley Community. Pickett & Sons Construction, Inc. was recognized by the Fresno Business Journal at the 2009 Real Estate Awards for its role in the construction of Walgreens Store #10243 in Fresno. Pickett & Sons Construction, Inc. was proud to sponsor the building of Mary Ann Rojas’ home as part of the ABC show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Various other local organizations have been supported on an annual basis including The First Tee of Fresno, Boy Scouts of America, and Fresno State Construction Management.
The School of Engineering at California State University, Fresno recognized Pickett & Sons Construction, Inc as it’s Outstanding Community Partner to the Construction Management Program at its annual Spring Banquet.
